INSIDE THE CAB
Inside the cab we have a range of storage accessories all designed to make living out of the back of the wagon an easier and more pleasant experience.
Tanami Storage Drawers
While the Patrol was a wagon in the large cargo area we have fitted a set of Tanami storage drawers. Available in a wide range of configurations we opted for a 3-draw set plus fridge slide. These units are well made, good looking and are lighter than a full-steel set of drawers. They swallow an amazing amount of gear, but if we do this again, we'd probably go for a 2-draw set and give ourselves a bit more usable room above the storage system.
Black Widow Storage Drawers
Once we changed the Patrol to a dual-cab ute we opted for a two-drawer unit from Black Widow to sit on the tray. These units are tough and strong as well as good looking. They are made from zinc coated or galvanised steel, all precision cut and folded to the required shape and size, while the bottoms of the draw are crossed pressed so that they do not sag under heavy loads. Quality roller bearings are used throughout with double bearings on the load-carrying bottom of the drawers and a horizontal bearing at the top of the drawer to ensure good alignment. A 17mm carpeted waterproof 7-ply top adds a strong quality finish to the drawer system. Strong, easy to use stainless steel latches provide easy locking and unlocking. For a full range of their storage draws and other products, check out their web site: www.blackwidow4wdstorage.com/
Outback 4WD Storage Roof Console
A roof console from Outback 4WD Storage graces the centre roof line of the Patrol. These moulded and colour-coded consoles also have front and rear interior lights and a couple of small storage lockers.
Milford Cargo Barrier
Once again when the Patrol was a wagon, keeping the cargo area separate from the passenger area was a Milford Cargo Barrier. We had to modify the mounting brackets a little to fit the barrier in with the 3-draw system, but it really wasn't a big job. We now don't need such a system!
Engel Fridge-Freezer
Sitting on top of the fridge slide is a 40-litre Engel fridge-freezer. We've used Engel fridges for over 20 years (a 30-litre unit is also in our camper!) and we've found them to be extremely reliable, effecient and robust. They keep the beer cold, the meat frozen and the salad crisp - what more could you want!
ARB Flexi-Tank (water)
Inside the rear left guard is an ARB 25-litre Flexi-Tank water container with an easy access filler and tap. You always need water and the Flexi-Tank makes use of an otherwise unuseable space.
ARB by Paratus
We added a pair of ‘ARB by Paratus’ seats to the Patrol and while there are four models in the Paratus line-up we went for a combo special which included the seat cushion from a ParaTour with a seatback from a ParaSport. The ParaTour seat cushion has relatively low seat bolsters for easy access while the ParaSport seatback has contoured bolstering for added stability and comfort, as well as featuring an integrated head restraint. We added air adjustable lumbar support to both seats as well as leather trimming to the seat and side bolsters for improved durability.
Other options available are adjustable armrests, seat covers and head pillows.
Paratus made seats come with a 24 month warranty. For more info contact ARB, ph: (03) 9761 6622 or check the web at:www.arb.com.au.
Michelle Sacs 'Seat Organiser'
For other small items a Michelle's Sacs 'Seat Organiser', sits on the back swab of the front seat - it's a beauty!
For security we've fitted a couple of Hide Away Safes to the vehicle: www.hideawaysafe.com.au .
The world's first relocatable high security, light-weight safe - the Australian designed and made Hide Away Safe.
Car Tint
One of the best things you can do for you and your vehicle is to add some good sunscreen to the windows. It'll keep the interior of the vehicle cooler, the passengers happier and the air conditioner unit not working so hard. The thing is there's some cheap nasty stuff around when it comes to window tinting materials so if you are planning to keep the vehicle for more than a year, get the good, high performance, scratch resistant stuff from a reputable dealer. We had our Patrol done at Car Tint in Ringwood. You can contact them at: 16/ 513 Maroondah Hwy Ringwood 3134, ph: (03) 9870 6667.
See you in the bush.
