Mt Borradaile, NT
We’ve been to some spectacular places in northern Australia and seen some fabulous and awe inspiring ancient Aboriginal rock art, but no place comes close to what Mt Borradaile has to offer. Situated on the flood plain and right beside the Arnhem Land escarpment the wildlife and scenery is fantastic, while the fishing is something to remember for all time. The ancient rock art is unique and rates as the best in the country.
Activities for all the family include bird watching, billabong cruises, barramundi fishing, visiting rock art galleries, swimming in crocodile free rockholes, bushwalking, 4 wheel drive adventure, bush tucker appreciation, photography, exploring catacombs, investigating paperbark swamps and rainforest, wildlife spotting and viewing the exotic flora in this fascinating ecosystem.
We spent a week there recently as a guest of Max and Philippa Davidson who have leased a large area of wild land off the Traditional Owners for the last 20 years or more. Visitors gain access to this protected, highly restricted region via the honorary custodian status conferred on Max and Philippa Davidson of Davidson's Arnhemland Safaris by the traditional landowners of the Mount Borradaile area.It was our second visit to this remote place and we enjoyed it more the second time than we did the first.

In an exclusive breakthrough with leaseholders and traditional owners Red Desert Tours has secured the rights to take a couple of small select groups of four wheelers into the Mt Borradaile district of Aboriginal Arnhem Land in 2007.
